My retirement story Part 1.

Assalamualaikum and good day readers!

Alhamdulillah I am officially retired starting on the 1st of October 2023 after 33 years working as government servant. Frankly speaking, I never thought I would reach the age of 55 as my doctor once told me that I would not even live to see my kids grow up during my fifth pregnancy in 2002 when my illness (hyperthyrodism) relapsed for the fifth time which had made my heart's right chamber swollen and the valve leaked. I could never thank Allah enough for allowing me to live this far to celebrate my retirement. Alhamdulillah.

Besides, the loss of several colleagues for the past several years had convinced me to send my optional retirement letter. To name a few of my late colleagues, they are Allahyarham Mr. Zakaria (passed away about two weeks plus after retirement), Allahyarham Mr. Suriani (passed away due to heart failure at Surau At-Taqwa IPGKBM before Asar), Allahyarham Mr. Rahim Omar (passed away due to heart failure as well, at his home after sahur), Allahyarham Mr. Ramli Bauceng (passed away due to pneumonia at a hospital), and recently Allahyarhamah Puan Nazimah Abdulah (passed away due to heart failure after 4 years of retirement). May Allah place their souls among the righteous. My time to depart from this world will come any day. I am afraid that I have not prepared enough. Therefore, it is timely that I retire to seek Islamic fundamental knowledge while I am still healthy and active.

As my age increases, I find that multitasking is very tormenting. Since the HQ started to implement three-semesters in one academic year, and the inflexibility policy in the system including online learning, I found it difficult to sustain my energy and time to produce quality outcome. In addition, the change of administration style, structure and policy of the organisation,  had added up to my frustration.   When I started to feel unhappy at the work place, I knew that it was the right time for me to leave for good.

Nevertheless, I am truly blessed to be placed in a Department where I could teach English Language courses during the last three years of my career. I had an amazing Head of Department & colleagues who are also my best of friends. They really made me feel special and appreciated. Thank you Dr Shapiza Sharif , Sharifah Hanim and JSK members (especially Noriza, Ramlah, Datin Thusha, Vg and Khir) ,  for the efforts made - from pre retirement tour to Krabi and Hatyai to the luncheon and to the clock out day celebration. The times that I spent with all of you were truly meaningful and memorable. I will write more in details in the incoming entries.

Not to forget my former department colleagues, JPAJL, JKA, JPT, UKoku, KKSP committee members, students and support staffs. Thank you for your presence, thank you for your help and thank you for making my life colourful.
